The trailer for Thor: Ragnarok has given audiences some truly jaw-dropping moments, many of which couldn’t have been physically possible in the real world. One of these moments is a sequence in which Valkyrie, played by Tessa Thompson, rides a Pegasus into battle, a complicated scene that the actress happy to divulge details about.

“So that day I am on like a big blue sausage,” the actress joked. “It’s hoisted to this silver thing, kind of haphazardly and kind of hovering above the ground. Not epic at all. I’m with my sword and so I thought, ‘Oh, this is cool, right?’ Like, pretending to look really cool, and then in comes this incredible horse rider who is on this beautiful stallion.”
She added, “And the horse jumps in the air and the shield is fantastic and epic, and maybe 15 minutes later they did a composite where suddenly I’m on that horse and I just couldn’t believe it.”
The actress happily took credit for the impressive stunt, chiding, “Look at me go!”
The upcoming film looks like it will offer a spectacle unlike anything previously seen in any film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While the challenge of many of the other films is how to convey the fantastic world of super heroes in a way that’s grounded, Thor: Ragnarok will only briefly feature any sequences set in the “real world,” which allows the film to explore colorful and spectacular worlds.
Thompson, who has previously starred in films like Creed and Selma, might not be as familiar with the complicated visual effects of the MCU, but clearly embraced those challenges wholeheartedly.
Thor: Ragnarok opens in theaters on November 3, 2017.
