The “Asgard/Shi’ar” wars continue. Having beaten back the Dark Elves from the home of the Light Elves, Thor thought she had earned some rest. That illusion was shattered when a Shi’ar army, led by Gladiator and the Imperial Guard, invaded Asgard. Thor was forced to allow them to take her to the Shi’ar Empire, where she was to compete with the Shi’ar gods in some kind of terrible contest.
Thor grew tired of the Shi’ar gods’ cruel game and refused to play further. Before the gods could try to punish Thor, the Asgardian armada arrived and attacked the Shi’ar to rescue Thor.
The battle rages on, but those involved do not know the entire story. It was Loki, at the behest of Malekith, who convinced the Shi’ar gods to capture Thor, and now that war rages in the Shi’ar Empire, the Phoenix Force begins to wake.
In the preview below, Thor is joined by former Jean Grey School for Higher Learning student Kid Gladiator, son of Gladiator, and his bodyguard, Warbird, as they approach potential Phoenix Force host and powerful mutant telepath Kid Omega, Quentin Quire for assistance.
The Might Thor #18 goes on sale in comic shops and in digital comics apps on April 26, 2017.
