Marvel and Netflix may be spinning up the marketing machine for The Punisher, but what if it were NBC introducing Frank Castle as a one-man Law & Order spin-off?

That’s the scenario imagined by BossLogic and Kyle Hebert in a new video released on YouTube. The video takes some of the effects from the recently released teaser for The Punisher and applies the now-classic Law & Order intro monologue with a bit of a twist.
The monologue says:
In the criminal justice system, murderers and thieves are allowed to slip free. In New York City, a dedicated professional who exterminates these vicious felons, who does not need an elite squad because he is the unit, this is his story.
Rather than Law & Order‘s signature “dun-dun” sound at the end, the final two beats of the video are gunshots, which is basically The Punisher’s audio equivalent. You can watch the video above.
Marvel’s The Punisher is the first series to spin out of one of Marvel’s other Netflix shows. Jon Bernthal debuted the role of Frank Castle in the second season of Marvel’s Daredevil.
The Punisher is based on the Marvel Comics character created by Gerry Conway, John Romita Sr., and Ross Andru, who debuted in Amazing Spider-Man #129 in 1974. Originally intended as a cautionary Spider-Man villain, the Punisher’s relentless, hardline vigilante tactics resonated with certain fans and turned him into a cult favorite. He has since starred in several ongoing series from Marvel Comics and three previous live-action movies: one starring Dolph Lundgren in 1989, another starring Thomas Jane in 2004, and Punisher: War Zone starring Ray Stevenson in 2004.
