Though Captain America: Civil War came out last month, fans are still debating on which side they would've chosen if they were forced to choose between Team Cap or Team Iron Man. And, in a recent interview, the director of Thor: Ragnarok chimed in and said who he thought Thor would have sided with.
While details about the upcoming Marvel film are of course being closely guarded, Taika Waititi talked about Thor and where the Norse god would stand on the face-off between his teammates. Waititi said, "We've talked a little bit about this. Personally, I feel Thor would have started his own team. He wouldn't have liked the idea of those teams." The director then continued, saying, "But, even though Thor is from outer space and he lives in a palace, part of me likes to think he would side with Cap."
As for the director himself, he said he would side with Captain America. He told Fandango, "I would side with Cap purely because I don't trust billionaires."
Taika Waititi is not the first person involved with Thor: Ragnarok to speak about Thor's position on the Civil War controversy. Earlier this month at Wizard World Philadelphia, Chris Hemsworth (Thor) and Tom Hiddleston (Loki) discussed the Captain America film during a Q&A panel. When asked by a fan about Thor's absence in the film and his the God of Thunder's reaction would be to the film's squabble, Chris Hemsworth said Thor would be shocked.
He said Thor would, "be like, 'Sort it out, idiots. This is silly.' I don't know. I'm not sure how that story's going to go when Thor comes back. But I think it will come as quite a shock that they all aren't getting along — having a bit of a tiff."
As for Loki, Tom Hiddleston believes the trickster god would be "really upset that he wasn't involved" in the conflict and that, "Loki's going to come back and lead them all." Unsurprisingly, fans weren't too upset about the prospect of being led by Tom Hiddleston's mischievous character.
With Thor: Ragnarok starring talent like Jeff Goldblum, Mark Ruffalo amongst others, fans are now counting down the days until November 3, 2017 to see how the series' third film plays out. And, if they're lucky, fans may just get to see an easter egg or two in Thor: Ragnarok which will pay homage to the aftermath left back on Earth following the latest Captain America film.
