It’s been known for quite a while that Jane won’t be around for Thor: Ragnarok, as Natalie Portman announced last year that she was done with the franchise.

What was unclear however, is how the filmmakers would work that into the story. Would anyone explain why Jane was gone? Or would it just be left up to the audience to assume why she wasn’t around.

Thankfully, Chris Hemsworth has let everyone know what’s going on.

During an interview with EW, the Thor star was asked about Jane’s disappearance from the character’s life. He made it clear that the two had broken up, and followed that up by letting everyone know why he’s okay with it.

“He’s off exploring the universe, still trying to police it and control the mayhem,” said Hemsworth. “But he’s certainly enjoying being a drifter, being a solo cowboy out there.”

Marvel president Kevin Feige went on to explain that – since Jane is gone – a new character could fill that void in Thor’s life.

“We wanted Thor to encounter somebody that was near his equal and that his relationship with Jane may have evolved in unexpected ways in between The Dark World and Ragnarok and we wanted to pit him against a character who was much more his equal and in many ways his superior,” Fiege said. “Valkyrie is trying to not embrace any sort of Asgardian heritage that she has. Thor thinks maybe that will create a bond between them and, on the contrary, she wants to forget it all entirely.”

So, Valkyrie won’t give into Thor’s pelvic sorcery – at least, not at first. The God of Thunder will have a hard time with the women in his life this time around.

We’ll see if that expands in Thor: Ragnarok when it releases November 3. Are you excited for the latest adventure in the Mighty Thor’s worthy saga? Let us know with your vote below in the Anticipation Rankings!
