Spoilers incoming for X-Men: Blue #13, so if you haven’t read the issue yet you’ve been warned.

As fans learned last issue, Mojo is looking for a ratings spike for his alternate dimension television show and has decided to make the X-Men his sweeps week. He’s split the group into three teams, displaying their battles for survival to the whole world.

One of those teams is made up of Cyclops, Prestige, Kitty Pryde, and Bloodstorm, who attempt to rescue civilians caught in the Sentinel crossfire. They’re doing pretty well actually until Mojo decides to gloat a bit, prompting Cyclops to ask who this maniac is. Remember, this is the Cyclops from the past, so he has never fought Mojo and his cronies.

When he asks if the enemies and their weapons are made up of special effects, Mojo offers an unfortunate answer, having his sentient shoot a host of spears towards the X-Men. One of the spears impales Bloodstorm, who dies in Cyclops’ arms. “Cyclops…I never…I’m immortal…and I thought I had more time…,” Bloodstorm says before fading into dust.

Bloodstorm actually hasn’t been a member of the team for that long, truly joining them just last issue. Still, she is a favorite from the popular alternate Mutant X universe, a series that starred a number of crazy versions of beloved characters, including The Fallen (Archangel), Iceman, Bloodstorm, and Brute.

While the character is based on the Mutant X version, writer Cullen Bunn revealed that it is not actually the exact same character. Rather, this Bloodstorm is from a different universe.

By issue’s end the team does get some reinforcements in the form of Longshot, so hopefully, that will be enough to overtake Mojo.
