Several websites reported over the weekend that Wil Traval, who played Will Simpson in the first season of Marvel’s Jessica Jones on Netflix, was rumored for Fox’s next X-Men movie, had been teasing his role in it, or that he has actually been cast.

The reports were based on a tweet made by Traval on April 22, 2017. The tweet reads, “I am gonna be in heaven #DarkPhoenix #xmen7 #JeanGrey #EverythingEverything”

The reports took the “I am gonna be in heaven” tweet to mean that Traval was going to be in the movie.

However, Traval last night responded to is own tweet, saying, “‘I am going to be heaven’ because I am looking forward to the film. Nothing more to it. #notinthemovie”

As ComicBook.com noted yesterday, Traval’s Twitter timeline suggests that he enjoys a lot of geeky entertainment. In his recent tweets, he has shared his excitement about Star Trek: Discovery, American Gods, and Joss Whedon’s Batgirl movie even though he doesn’t have an announced role in any of those projects.

The tweet that sparked the rumor was sent out on the same day that 20th Century Fox officially announced X-Men: Dark Phoenix and dated the film for Nov. 2, 2018. It seems likely that Traval made the “I’m in heaven” tweet as a direct response to this news.

So this means that Traval isn’t in X-Men: Dark Phoenix, but Marvel fans shouldn’t be too sad. There’s still hope that Will Simpson will complete his transformation into the supervillain Nuke and return for Jessica Jones Season 2 on Netflix.

X-Men: Dark Phoenix currently has a 3.74 out of 5 ComicBook.com User Anticipation Rating. Let us know how excited you are for X-Men: Dark Phoenix by giving the film your own user anticipation rating below.

X-Men: Dark Phoenix will be a direct sequel to X-Men: Apocalypse. The film will take place in the 1990s and will be inspired by “The Dark Phoenix Saga,” the most popular X-Men story of all time. Simon Kinberg was rumored to direct, though no announcement has been made by the studio.

Fox attempted to adapt “The Dark Phoenix Saga” once previously, in X-Men: The Last Stand. The attempt was not well-received by fans.

X-Men: Dark Phoenix opens in theaters no Nov. 18, 2018.
