Why was it deleted? According to TMZ, Murphy is in the early stages of the project, but his social media team jumped the gun by tweeting out the teaser image ahead of schedule.

Now, The Tracking Board is reporting that Coming to America 2 is indeed happening and has brought back its original screenwriters: David Sheffield and Barry W. Blaustein. Additionally, Kevin Misher — who produced 2009’s Public Enemies and the 2013 Carrie reboot — is producing the film.

Details regarding the plot of Coming to America 2 are still being kept under wraps.

Coming to America casts comedian Eddie Murphy as pampered African prince Akeem, who rebels against an arranged marriage and heads to America to find a new bride. Murphy’s regal father (James Earl Jones) agrees to allow the prince 40 days to roam the U.S., sending the prince’s faithful retainer Semmi (Arsenio Hall) along to make sure nothing untoward happens. To avoid fortune hunters, Prince Akeem conceals his true identity and gets a “Joe job” at a fast-food restaurant.

The cast also includes: John Amos, Shari Headley, Madge Sinclair, Eriq La Salle, Allison Dean, Paul Bates, and Louie Anderson. It was directed by John Landis, based on a screenplay by David Sheffield and Barry W. Blaustein.

On a production budget of $39 million, Coming to America grossed $288.7 million at the global box office.
