Paramount has removed the Terminator Genisys sequel, previously referred to as Terminator 2, from it's film schedule.
The film was previously on the calendar for a May 19, 2017 release. That date has now been given to the Baywatch reboot, starring Dwayne Johnson.
Terminator Genisys saw Arnold Schwarzeneggar return to his role from the hit franchise, alongside Emilia Clarke as a recast Sarah Conner. The film, directed by Alan Taylor, involved time travel, and introduced a new franchise continuity.
The film grossed $440.6 million worldwide, but only $90 million domestically, amongst mostly negative reviews. The third film in the planned reboot trilogy was intended to release in June 2018.
