Danny Boyle and Alex Garland returned to their undead apocalypse earlier this year with the highly anticipated theatrical bow of 28 Years Later. The zombie threequel has take fans for quite a few surprises since its release, flipping what they thought they knew about the 28 Days franchise upside-down and re-establishing the status quo. Over the weekend, the horror hit was added to Netflix‘s streaming lineup in the United States, where it appears to be quickly making more fans.

28 Years Later hit Netflix on Saturday and has already risen to take over the number one spot on the entire service. Monday’s Netflix Top 10 Movies list has 28 Years Later in the pole position, which bodes well for the franchise as it readies another sequel for 2026.
If you’re one of the many horror fans who has already watched 28 Years Later on Netflix, and you’re looking for another zombie adventure to check out next, the streaming service has a couple of awesome options to add to your watchlist.
1. Train to Busan (2016)

It may not yet be in the same “best zombie movie ever” conversation as some of George A. Romero’s works, but Train to Busan is easily the cream of the crop when it comes to the last 20 years of zombie filmmaking.
Yeon Sang-ho’s 2016 thriller is absolutely electric from start to finish. It carries the emotional weight and social stakes of Romero’s zombie outings, but folds them into a horrifying package that is filled to the brim with action and suspense.
Train to Busan‘s sequel, Peninsula, is also streaming on Netflix right now. It’s not nearly as good as its predecessor, but that bar is so high that it can fall short and still be one of the better zombie movies around.
2. The Dead Don’t Die (2019)

28 Years Later is a great example of a movie that completely defied expectations and delivered something unique. Those kinds of experiences are hard to find in the world of zombie movies nowadays, but Jim Jarmusch’s undead comedy also falls under that umbrella.
Released in 2019, The Dead Don’t Die is a dry and dark comedy about a sudden zombie outbreak in a small town. It’s a movie that consistently subverts your expectations and its characters have a tendency to zig when you think they’re about to zag.
The Dead Don’t Die boasts an all-star cast that includes Adam Driver, Billy Murray, Danny Glover, Tilda Swinton, Tom Waits, Chloe Sevigny, Steve Buscemi, Selena Gomez, and Austin Butler.
3. Army of the Dead (2021)

I think there’s a pretty large gap between the first two films on this list and Army of the Dead, but this Zack Snyder actioner is still a better zombie movie than we’re used to getting these days. It’s also a lot more entertaining than it has any right to be.
The film centers around a massive heist, with a team heading into a version of Las Vegas that has been overrun by zombies. It’s silly and relentlessly over-the-top in a way that feels surprisingly endearing. Then there are some great performances at the center of the ensemble (Ella Purnell stands out in a big way) and the whole thing is capped with some truly insane ideas about potential futures in a zombie franchise.
