Fan-Favorite DreamWorks Sequel Finally Returning to Streaming (But on a Totally Different Service)

It’s not uncommon for sequels to fail to live up to the original, but DreamWorks Animation has a stellar history of releasing great follow-ups that in some cases even outperform their predecessor. Over the past several years, the studio has expanded some of its most iconic movies with well-loved sequels, creating entire franchises out of Shrek, Kung Fu Panda, and How to Train Your Dragon. Many of those films are available on major streaming platforms, and one fan-favorite sequel that recently disappeared from streaming catalogs finally found a new home.

After being absent from a major streaming platform ever since leaving Netflix’s streaming library back in May, DreamWorks Animation’s 2023 hit animated musical Trolls Band Together returned to streaming on Prime Video on September 19th. Marking the third installment in the Trolls franchise and the sequel to 2020’s Trolls World Tour, the movie brings Anna Kendrick and Justin Timberlake back as beloved characters Poppy and Branch, who must embark on another epic adventure after Branch’s brother is troll-napped by two wannabe pop stars, forcing Branch to reunite with his BroZone brothers.

Why You Should Watch Trolls Band Together

Trolls Band Together brings all the good aspects of the Trolls franchise back to the screen, including colorful and whimsical animation, great characters, and an amazing cast. Aside from the star-studded voice cast that also includes Zooey Deschanel, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Icona Pop, Kenan Thompson, Kid Cudi, Troye Sivan, Camila Cabello, and Amy Schumer, Trolls Band Together features some major earworms with songs like “Better Place,” “Mount Rageous,” and “BroZone’s Back.” We also can’t overlook the fact that the movie staged a major musical reunion, bringing aboard JC Chasez, Lance Bass, Joey Fatone, and Chris Kirkpatrick as members of the Kismet band for a long-awaited *NSYNC reunion that will appease adult viewers.

The movie is fun for the entire family, and although it’s the lowest-rated movie in the Trolls franchise among critics with a 64%, it is the highest-rated in the franchise with the audience. Trolls Band Together earned the “Verified Hot” distinction on Rotten Tomatoes with a 92% audience rating, viewers praising the movie for its positive message and a story and songs that can “entertain all ages.” The film also pulled in a $209 million worldwide haul, making it a box office hit.

Other Family-Friendly Movies Now on Prime Video

Trolls Band Together isn’t the only movie the entire family can enjoy on Prime Video. September 2025 also brought DreamWorks Animation’s hit 2017 animated movie The Boss Baby to the platform. In the film, Alec Baldwin voices the titular character, a suit-wearing baby who teams up with his 7-year-old brother to stop a plot that involves an epic battle between puppies and babies.

Family-friendly options are pretty thin this month, but the two new additions join others currently streaming on the Amazon platform, including The Addams Family, Sonic the Hedgehog 3, The Super Mario Bros. Movie, and Paw Patrol: The Mighty Movie.
