Bruce Banner always gets the short end of the stick in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Despite being the focus of the franchise’s second-ever movie, he’s been having to play second fiddle to other heroes for well over a decade. Rights issues appear to be to blame, but that’s no excuse for doing one of the original Avengers dirty. Fortunately, the last couple of years have been kind to Banner and his angry alter ego. For starters, he’s a major player in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, helping his cousin, Jennifer Walters, learn how to navigate life as a Hulk. Skaar, Hulk’s son, also makes a brief appearance in the Disney+ show, teasing that the green monster and his family will have more to say in the future.

But being Hulk’s ally isn’t the only way for a gamma-powered character to get an opportunity in the MCU. The Leader, Red Hulk, and Abomination have all branched out after making their franchise debuts in The Incredible Hulk. It’s only a matter of time before Marvel Studios returns to the well again. Here are seven gamma-powered Marvel characters still missing from the MCU.
7) Weapon H

The Weapon X program doesn’t stop after creating Wolverine and Deadpool. While working for the Roxxon corporation, Clayton Cortez refuses orders, which lands him in hot water with the higher-ups. He ends up in the hands of Weapon X, and after a few experiments, he resurfaces as a hulking monster with adamantium claws. A cross between the Hulk and Wolverine, the beast would turn plenty of heads in the MCU.
6) Doc Samson

Banner has to fight for Betty Ross’ love in The Incredible Hulk because she’s seeing someone new, Leonard Samson. While Samson doesn’t get much to do in the MCU, he’s a powerhouse in Marvel Comics, being exposed to gamma radiation and working to hunt down the Hulk. He also teams up with his fair share of prominent heroes, making him much more than a Hulk supporting character.
5) Red She-Hulk

Thaddeus Ross’ obsession with the Hulk ruins his daughter’s life in the MCU, and things aren’t that different in the comics. On numerous occasions, Betty has found herself on the wrong end of gamma radiation. The most notable instance comes when she returns from the dead as the Red She-Hulk, who is significantly more aggressive than her human counterpart.
4) Rick Jones

Banner has some great friends in the MCU, such as Tony Stark, but none of them hold a candle to Marvel Comics’ Rick Jones. Feeling responsible for the accident that created the Hulk, Jones spends his days helping the hero however he can. Unfortunately, Jones never seems to catch a break, turning into the gamma-infused A-Bomb and other beasts. The one silver lining is that Jones gets to make up for his mistakes and then some.
3) Amadeus Cho

Since brains usually beat brawn, Banner likes to have geniuses in his corner. The smartest person he comes across is Amadeus Cho, a young man who always finds himself in trouble. While running with the Hulk, Cho absorbs gamma radiation and turns into a new version of the hero. When it’s finally time for Hulk to retire in the MCU, his replacement will surely be waiting in the wings.
2) Lyra

Skaar is the Hulk’s most famous child, but he’s not the only one. Thundra and the green beast have a fling that concludes with the birth of Lyra, a fierce warrior who becomes a new version of She-Hulk. She has all the qualities that make her father great, with one notable exception: getting angrier makes her weaker, not stronger. While it would be tough for the MCU to reveal that Banner has two secret children, it’s not off the table just yet.
1) Aberration

Thunderbolt Ross doesn’t hold a monopoly on being obsessed with the Hulk, as fellow military man John Ryker also learns his fair share about the hero. When a soldier marked for death, named Rana Phillips, allows Ryker to experiment on her, she becomes the gamma-powered Aberration. A battle against Lyra takes her off the board, but the MCU could give her a more interesting story.
