If the announcement trailer released today is any indication, it seems Sony will use the classic Ray Parker, Jr. theme song to Ghostbusters in Paul Feig's reinvention of the franchise.

Or, at least some version of that song.

The "Who you gonna call?" tagline, which came from the song's lyrics, was the only recognizably Ghostbusters element of the images shown in the trailer, before the logo appeared onscreen and was joined by a brief, simple piano arrangement of a few notes from the song.

Given how recognizable the song is -- as far as '80s movie soundtracks go, Ghostbusters rates up there with things like The Big Chill, The Breakfast Club and Rocky IV -- many fans had hoped it would remain in spite of the faceflift Feig is giving the franchise, the third installment of which was stalled for years until the passing of Harold Ramis took the idea of a direct sequel featuring the original four actors off the table.

Los Angeles-based singer and vocal coach Dinah Steward recently released an updated, jazz-infused take on the iconic theme in hopes of attracting the attention of filmmaker Paul Feig and the team responsible for Sony's upcoming reboot.

The new Ghostbusters film is being directed by Paul Feig, stars Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones and is the vanguard of a new cinematic universe of films inspired by the 1980s supernatural comedy.

It's due in theaters July 15.
