Godzilla 2 Will Be "Bigger and Better," According to Writer

Like this weekend's Fantastic Four, last year's Godzilla was criticized by many fans for taking too long to get to "the point."

That being, the point where the title character(s) finally take the screen in a meaningful way and the film's central conflict can get underway.

Still, Godzilla did some big money at the box office and was a franchise starter for Legendary Pictures, who plan on bringing back the same creatives to make the second one a reality.

"I'm writing it now, and it's really going to be great," writer Max Borenstein told Collider at a TCA event for his new series Minority Report. "I don't want to go off book and tell you anything that I'm not allowed to tell you. The response to the first film was really exciting, but now that that world is established, we can do bigger and even better things. We're really stoked."

Borenstein also praised director Gareth Edwards, saying that he hopes to work closely with his collaborator in spite of the pressures Edwards is facing as a Star Wars director.
