Legendary kicked off its ambitious MonsterVerse with the original Godzilla and built upon that foundation with this year’s successful Kong: Skull Island. Now all eyes are looking toward the upcoming third piece of the puzzle, Godzilla: King of the Monsters, a premise that was explored in the after credits scene of Skull Island.

Now the film has a working title thanks to Production Weekly, which was revealed to be Fathom. Fathom has always been associated with the water, and Godzilla has often emerged from the depths of the sea, as he did in the latest reboot before defending the city. Maybe the new threat will also emerge from the depths in the sequel, but of course, this could end up meaning a variety of things, and fans won’t really know until later in the production process.

Speaking of King of the Monsters, the project recently added Aisha Hinds to the talented cast (via Deadline). Hinds played Harriet Tubman in WGN’s successful Underground series, but it is unknown at this time who she will play in Godzilla.

Godzilla: King Of The Monsters is directed by Michael Dougherty with Max Borenstein, Michael Dougherty, and Zach Shields on screenplay duties. It stars Vera Farmiga, Millie Bobby Brown, Kyle Chandler, and O’Shea Jackson Jr.

Kong: Skull Island reimagines the origin of the mythic Kong in a compelling, original adventure from director Jordan Vogt-Roberts.In the film, a diverse team of explorers is brought together to venture deep into an uncharted island in the Pacificโ€”as beautiful as it is treacherousโ€”unaware that they’re crossing into the domain of the mythic Kong.

Kong: Skull Island stars Tom Hiddleston (Thor: Ragnarok), Samuel L. Jackson (The Avengers), Oscar-winner Brie Larson (Room), John Goodman (10 Cloverfield Lane) and John C. Reilly (Guardians of the Galaxy). The international ensemble cast also includes Tian Jing, Corey Hawkins, Jason Mitchell, John Ortiz, Thomas Mann, Shea Whigham, Toby Kebbell and Eugene Cordero.

Jordan Vogt-Roberts (The Kings of Summer) directs the film from a screenplay by Max Borenstein, John Gatins, Dan Gilroy and Derek Connolly. The film is produced by Legendary’s Thomas Tull and Jon Jashni with Mary Parent. The executive producers are Eric McLeod and Alex Garcia.

Kong: Skull Island is in theaters now. Godzilla: King Of The Monsters is scheduled for March 22, 2018, and MonsterVerse is slated for May 29, 2020.
