The Chicago Comic Convention, C2E2, is taking place this weekend and on Friday it was time for Jason David Frank to take center stage.
Frank, most famously known as The Green Ranger or Tommy Oliver, from his multiple seasons of starring in The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers spent most of his time talking about his first big role, martial arts, and his upcoming Valiant projects during the session on Friday.
Atypically for the event, Frank went right into question and answer after taking the stage and fans immediately took the opportunity to ask about his experiences with Power Rangers.
For Frank, the role of Tommy was a perfect match.
"I really felt like him," he said. "I was the new kid coming to the show."
What he didn't feel like at the time was the star he is today.
Frank shared his experience coming onto the set for Power Rangers for the first time. Suffice it to say, it wasn't wasn't what he expected.
"Everything was so fake and I was like 'this is so cheap'," he said. "Everything was super glued together and our props, the coins would fall out, so we just velcroed them in."
Despite the hokey nature of the show, Frank fell in love with it.
He also said that being taken seriously as an actor -- doing the Power Rangers -- was a challenge because it was an unknown show when he first joined.
"When Power Rangers first came out I'm telling you no one really cared about it," he said. "I couldn't get an agent, I couldn't get interviews."
Despite being well known for his roles in Power Rangers, Frank is also a Martial Arts instructor and helped create a Christian-based mixed martial arts company called "Jesus Didn't Tap" During his Q&A Frank even busted out a few moves on stage including his famous "Tommy Kick".
Franks is currently working on a show called Ninjak vs. the Valiant Universe playing a character named Bloodshot and for Frank, this role just like Tommy is perfect for him.
"Wait until you guys see the Valiant stuff," he said. "When you see it go ahead and compare that thing to Daredevil go ahead and compare it to any show out there your going to see it and say 'wow this is legit'."
Frank also teased two really big projects that he wasn't able to mention much about but promises that he'll tell fans more about them later this year.
