Megan Fox’s Cult 2000s Horror Movie Is Streaming Again Just As Sequel Rumors Swirl

Megan Fox may be gearing up to revisit one of her most iconic roles to date, and fans can now stream the original film. Following her breakout role as Mikaela Banes in the Transformers film series, the actress stepped into the horror genre with a leading role in a late 2000s box office flop-turned-cult classic. More than a decade later, that movie has returned to streaming as rumors that a sequel is in the works continue to swirl.

Hulu subscribers won’t want to miss Jennifer’s Body. Director Karyn Kusama’s 2009 cult classic horror movie, written by Diablo Cody and starring Megan Fox and Amanda Seyfried, started streaming on the platform on September 1st. The movie centers around Jennifer Check, a popular high school cheerleader who gains an insatiable appetite for human flesh after a night out with an occult-obsessed rock band leaves her possessed by a sinister demon. As she begins to kill her male classmates to survive, her bookworm best friend, Anita “Needy” Lesnicki, must find a way to end her killing spree. Johnny Simmons, J. K. Simmons, Amy Sedaris, and Adam Brody also star.

Why You Should Watch Jennifer’s Body

Jennifer’s Body was the furthest thing from a success upon its release in 2009. The movie was a box office failure when it only grossed $31.6 million against a $16 million production budget, and its 46% critics rating on Rotten Tomatoes made it a far cry from a critical darling. The movie also underperformed with the audience and only holds a 36% Popcornmeter score, making it rotten in both metrics.

Despite that poor early reception, Jennifer’s Body has transformed from a flop into a celebrated feminist cult classic that remains a cultural touchstone. The movie is now widely recognized as a great commentary on female rage and revenge that is driven by its female leads and the female friendship at the center of the story. Both Fox and Seyfried deliver strong, memorable performances, and the movie features more than enough unforgettable lines and moments to make it fun and addictive to watch. The movie is so beloved that there have been ongoing talks for a sequel, with Seyfried revealing earlier this year, “making another one.” Details for the sequel are sparse, but Seyfried revealed the project is being spearheaded by producer Mason Novick, per Variety.
