A Black Widow Movie Might Happen Sooner Than We Think

Every time Scarlett Johansson (We Bought A Zoo) does press for a Marvel film, reporters bludgeon her with questions about the possibilities of a Black Widow solo film. And that is what happened at an Avengers: Age Of Ultron press event.

"I've spoken to Kevin about it," Scarlett told Collider. "I mean, of course, of course we've had that conversation before, and I think Kevin would also like to see a standalone film. I think I can speak for him and say that. That's all, really. Right now I think this character is used well in this part of the universe, but I think that Kevin—I mean, we've talked about it and we both share similar vision for what could be a standalone series."

The character has grown quite a bit from her first appearance in Iron Man 2. Whedon made sure he gave her ample screen time and plenty of exciting scenes in Avengers: Age Of Ultron to match her male comrades. Perhaps, her extra screen time in this latest Marvel film will be the catalyst that brings about a Black Widow standalone film.

Marvel Studios presents Avengers: Age of Ultron, the epic follow-up to the biggest Super Hero movie of all time. When Tony Stark tries to jumpstart a dormant peacekeeping program, things go awry and Earth's Mightiest Heroes, including Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, The Incredible Hulk, Black Widow and Hawkeye, are put to the ultimate test as the fate of the planet hangs in the balance. As the villainous Ultron emerges, it is up to the Avengers to stop him from enacting his terrible plans, and soon uneasy alliances and unexpected action pave the way for an epic and unique global adventure.

Avengers: Age of Ultron hits theaters on May 1, 2015.
