During a conference call with investors, a reporter asked Marvel's Chairman and CEO Bob Iger why Disney signed a deal with Netflix to develop new Marvel Comics characters TV series, rather than developing them on one of their own properties. Iger explained that ABC already has Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and is also "developing another concept." Iger did not elaborate on what this second concept for ABC is exactly, but rumors have suggested that possibility of an Agent Peggy Carter TV series, spinning out of the Captain America movies and a recent Marvel one shot. Iger also added that there was lots of interest in the new Marvel series and "ultimately Netflix won out." Iger indicated it was a good opportunity to provide Netflix with "some branded programming."
