Leave it to Gohan to never learn. The half-Saiyan hero was introduced to anime fans years ago in Dragon Ball Z, but time still hasn’t helped the protagonist channel some common sense. In this week’s episode of Dragon Ball Super, Gohan and Piccolo found themselves on a trip down nostalgia lane when the pair began training in earnest together for a martial arts tournament. And, by the episode’s end, Gohan had to make a hilarious reference to his first training rounds with Piccolo.

When Gohan was just a little kid, the character was taken by Piccolo to train after Goku sacrificed his life to kill his older brother Raditz. With two power Saiyans heading to earth, Piccolo forced Gohan to explore his natural-born fighting skills to the boy’s great unease. Gohan wanted nothing more than to go home to his mom, but Piccolo stranded the boy in hopes he’d learn to fend for himself. Somewhere down the line, Gohan did learn to live resourcefully, but his need for food once led him to cut off a T-Rex’s tail because he was hungry.
So, guess what Gohan did at the end of Dragon Ball Super‘s 89th episode?
If you guessed the hero took on the same dinosaur once again, then you’d be correct. Earlier in the episode, fans saw the dinosaur appear briefly during an interlude between Gohan’s battle with Piccolo. When the two warriors finally ended their spar, the two elected to eat around the training grounds. However, with there being no food around, Gohan chose the path of least resistance yet again. The Saiyan knocked out his old friend and cut off a chunk of his tail to cook over an open fire. When the dinosaur woke up, the poor guy was understandably spooked by the whole ordeal, and fans watched as the T-Rex ran away from the fighters with tear comically spilling from his eyes.
