Dragon Ball Super English Simulcast, Dubbed Episodes Coming To Funimation

After lots of speculation, it looks like the rumors have been confirmed. Funimation has announced that they are producing an English dub of Dragon Ball Super to pair with their subtitled simulcast plans.

"We are thrilled to continue our great partnership with Toei Animation," said Gen Fukunaga, CEO and founder of Funimation. "Like with the recent blockbuster Dragon Ball Z movies, having original creator Akira Toriyama passionately involved in 'Dragon Ball Super' is so wonderful to see and for fans to experience."

Earlier this fall, fans were treated to their first taste of Dragon Ball Super simulcasting. Crunchyroll housed the first live premiere of a subbed Dragon Ball Super episode since its Japanese release in 2015. The critically acclaimed series is the first anime to join the franchise is nearly 20 years. Creator Akira Toriyama returned to his iconic series to give fans a new look into Son Goku's life with the rest of his Z Fighter squad.

Currently, Funimation has plans to subtitle the entire Dragon Ball Super series before its English dub is released. Fans can watch episode 1-10 and 47-64 on FunimationNow. This Saturday, regular simulcasting will begin with episode 65 at 8:30 CT. In the coming weeks, episodes 11-46 will be subbed and uploaded to the site's streaming platforms.

"We are delighted to introduce 'Dragon Ball Super' to a fantastic audience together with Funimation," said Masayuki Endo, President of Toei Animation Inc. "'Dragon Ball Super' encompasses everything fans love about Dragon Ball, while talking the mythology to a whole new level. Toei's team of talented animators and creators have put their passion and imagination into this series."

So far, there is no word on any specific casting decision when it comes to Dragon Ball Super. Many fans hope that return voice actors from Dragon Ball Z will return for the new series.

On Twitter, Christopher Sabat has been celebrating the English dub's confirmation. The actor, who voices Vegeta and other characters, told fans, "We're back!" His profile also says, "Super Dub = Confirmed!!!!!!" so fans are hoping this means that Sabat will return to the recording booth. Other talent like Sean Schemmel, Terry Klassen, and more have yet to comment on the announcement.
