Variety is reporting that Frozen writer and co-director Jennifer Lee will write the script for the film adaptation of Madeleine L'Engle's classic children's fantasy novel A Wrinkle in Time.

According to the report, Lee is a fan of the story, which she read as a child, and Disney was impressed with her take on the story, which stressed a female-led narrative and creative takes on the film's fantasy and world-building aspects.

A Wrinkle in Time is a story about children who travel through space and time in search of their missing father. It was originally published in 1961 and is the first in a four-book series.

The novel was adapted into a graphic novel by Hope Larson in 2012.
