Tonight's episode of Game of Thrones, "The Battle of the Bastards", will feature the biggest battle ever shown on the show. While the Battle of the Blackwater and the Battle of Castle Black had bigger stakes, the producers of Game of Thrones went all out for this one, reportedly hiring thousands of extras to appear in what's shaping up to be a vicious fight for Winterfell. The Battle of the Bastards will also have the largest combatant to ever participate in battle between Westeros armies, as Wun Wun the giant will fight alongside Jon Snow and his allies.

Snow rescued Wun Wun from Hardhome last season, and he's been one of his most loyal allies ever since. Wun Wun was part of the wildling force that ended the mutiny at Castle Black, and singlehandedly convinced the traitorous Night's Watch members to stand down by killing a Night's Watch brother who shot him in the back with a crossbow. Although Ramsay Bolton has superior numbers, he doesn't have a giant on his side, one who has repeatedly shown his prowess and strength on the battlefield.

As a fan favorite with an emotional connection to Jon Snow, many are wondering whether Wun Wun will survive the Battle of the Bastards. After all, he's a minor character on Game of Thrones and minor characters have been dropping like flies all season. Plus, the show has a tendency to kill off a known character or two during these major battles, if only to keep fans guessing which of their favorite characters will die next. And dropping Jon Snow's pet giant would be an annoyingly fitting way to show how strong Ramsay Bolton and his army is.

Of course, Game of Thrones could choose to kill one of Jon Snow's other allies instead, like Tormund Giantsbane, the leader of the wildlings. However, it seems like the wildlings still have a role to play in the story and Tormund is the only wildling character to survive the last few seasons of the show. Plus, Tormund has an unlikely romance cooking with Brienne of Tarth and there would be no justice in the world if we didn't see how that plays out.

There's not a lot of other "disposable" characters fighting in the Battle of the Bastards, so Wun Wun seems like the most likely candidate to die at some point during tonight's episode. But while it seems that there's a bullseye on Wun Wun's large back, Game of Thrones has spared characters in the past. After all, Dolorious Edd, Bronn, and Podrick have all survived major battles, despite being disposable characters loved by fans.
