One local politician is livid (and social media is tickled) after a giant, inflatable Minion broke loose of its constraints and ended up obstructing traffic in Ireland yesterday.

Gardaí had to be called, and the air was let out of the inflatable. There were no injuries to people, although at least one vehicle was damaged in the commotion.

The inflatable was part of an advertising campaign set up at a local fairground. It's not clear how it became detached from its placement.

Councillor Paul McAuliffe of the Dublin City Council shared a photo from the event, and some sharp words for those involved:

"Fairground events and festivals are really important in bringing footfall to our city villages but even the smallest events have health and safety conditions," McAuliffe told The Journal shortly after. "I have asked the Council to provide me with a report on the incident and for the operators of the fairground to be interviewed by council officials."

"I don't want to sound like a killjoy, but if that had landed on a cyclist, for instance, it could have been serious," he said.
