Iron Man 3 Set

Robert Downey, Jr. has gone on record calling the Iron Man 3 script the best script he's read in five years. In addition to a great script, Iron Man 3 will also have an incredible set and filming location. Comicbook.com recently touched base with EUE/Screen Gems, which operates the studios where the majority of Iron Man 3 production will take place. Iron Man 3 will be filmed at the EUE/Screen Gems studios Wilmington, NC location. While North Carolina might seem like an unusual place to film a major motion picture, the state actually offers an attractive mix of tax credits, production facilities, and experienced talent. Recent movies that have filmed in North Carolina include The Secret Life of Bees, Nights in Rodanthe, and Journey 2: The Mysterious Island. Of course, a major component of attracting films to North Carolina has been the first class production space, studios, and technological infrastructure provided by EUE/Screen Gems. Their lot offers 50 acres, 10 stages and 150,000 sq. ft. of clear-span production space. Parts of Iron Man 3 will be filmed across all ten of EUE/Screen Gems sound stages. In particular, Stage 10 will likely factor heavily into the production. Stage 10 is a 37,500 square foot sound stage, and it's one of the largest in North America. Stage 10 also includes a special effects water tank, so it will be interesting to see if that plays into the Iron Man 3 production. Check out this photo of the massive Stage 10, where Iron Man 3 will film.
