The CW have released the first key art for their upcoming TV adaptation of Chris Roberson and Mike Allred's Vertigo comic iZombie, run by Veronica Mars creator Rob Thomas. You can see it above. The image, which features series lead Rose McIver as Olivia "Liv" Moore, represents the first idea we've had of the overall look of the pilot, which was shot in much more secrecy than The CW's other comic book pilot, Arrow spinoff The Flash. The TV adaptation is a pretty loose translation of Roberson and Allred's comic, in which the lead character's name was Gwen Dylan, an undead gravedigger in Eugene, Oregon and her friends Ellie, a 1960s ghost, and Scott, a were-terrier. Showrunner Rob Thomas has acknowledged that the TV iteration will share only the most basic similarities with the comic book, as it's translated more to a case-of-the-week procedural. In The CW's version of iZombie, med student-turned-zombie takes a job in the coroner's office to gain access to the brains she must reluctantly eat to maintain her humanity, but with each brain she consumes, she inherits the corpse's memories. With the help of her medical examiner boss and a police detective, she solves homicide cases in order to quiet the disturbing voices in her head. Malcolm Goodwin, Alexandra Krosney and David Anders are cast as Clive, Peyton and Blaine, characters who have no comic book counterparts. The series will be written and produced by Thomas and his Veronica Mars collaborator Diane Ruggiero and executive produced by Deanielle Stokdyk and Dan Etheridge.
