Elmore Leonard, author of Get Shorty and creator of Raylan Givens, the character at the center of FX’s hit drama Justified, passed away today due to complications from a stoke suffered earlier this month. He was at his home in Detroit with family when he died.A prolific writer with a distinctive voice, Leonard (along with Fletch creator Gregory McDonald) helped to make high-stakes, high-action mystery and thriller novels accessible to a wider audience by injecting humor into their hard-boiled world.
