Katee Sackhoff may be playing a superhero sometime soon, but at least presently she hasn't had any specific conversations with Marvel Studios, she admitted after weeks of fan speculation that she may play Captain Marvel in Avengers: Age of Ultron.

"At this moment, I have not sat down with anybody from Marvel for any role specifically," Sackhof told Vulture. That doesn't necessarily mean that something with Marvel is completely off the table in the future," she added. "Any time I can play a strong female lead that's a role model, it's a good day."

A "mystery project" that Sackhoff has been tweeting about had been widely expected to be revealed as a Marvel project in no small part because she referenced meeting Stan Lee recently.

The revelation that it's "not necessarily a movie and not necessarily a super hero that you would think of" -- and thus likely something on TV -- will likely put DC characters under the microscope since The FlashArrow, Gotham and Constantine are all expected to feature a number of DC characters this season, some of whom haven't yet been cast or revealed. Of course, Lee always has a number of other-media irons in the fire, so it's possible Sackhoff could be playing a character for one of those.

Sackhoff has frequently been the subject of fan speculation and fantasy casting more or less whenever a blonde, female superhero comes up...but Marvel's reported eagerness to capitalize on Captain Marvel has been a marriage made in Internet-speculation heaven. For months now, fans and media have thought that an announcement could be imminent.
