DC Entertainment has registered a trademark for "Legends of Tomorrow," possibly confirming the official title of their upcoming Flash/Arrow spinoff series.
The name popped up this morning on the US Patent and Trademark Office's website. Registered under the category of "Goods and Services," the site says that "Legend of Tomorrow" will be used for "Entertainment services in the nature of live-action, comedy, drama, animated and/or reality television programs; production of live-action, comedy, drama, animated, and/or reality television programs." So, in other words, a television show.
This doesn't come as a massive surprise, as earlier leaks strongly suggested that the title would at least be "Legends." The "Legends" title stems from a classic DC Comics miniseries from 1980s, which featured numerous Justice League characters. The upcoming television series will feature familair characters like The Atom, Firestorm, Black Canary, Captain Cold, and more, along with newcomers like Hawkgirl.
With this trademark, it's likely that an official announcement, and maybe a first-look image, will come from DC Entertainment and The CW soon.
Legends of Tomorrow (assuming that's the official name) will star Brandon Routh, Caity Lotz, Wentworth Miller, Dominic Purcell, Ciara Renee, Arthur Darvill and Victor Garber. It's executive produced by Greg Berlanti, Andrew Kreisberg and Marc Guggenheim. The series is expected to premiere at midseason next year and have a 13-episode season order.
