Robert Downey Jr. has signed a contract to return for Avengers 2 and Avengers 3, but it's unclear if he will return for any more standalone Iron Man movies. If Robert Downey Jr. chooses not to return, there's another Hollywood actor who is anxious to take over the Iron Man role. In an interview with Yahoo Movies to promote 2 Guns, Mark Wahlberg chatted about any interest he might have in any superhero movie roles. Mark Wahlberg said, "Well, I would like to take over the Iron Man franchise for Robert Downey." However, Wahlberg added, "It's one of those things where I kind of like playing real people. I've never been asked." Except for this one time apparently, when Wahlberg was considered for the role of Robin in Joel Schumachers' Batman Forever. Wahlberg said, "Once I was kind of being talked about for the Robin role in Batman. Somebody dodged a bullet."
