New Deadpool Image Spoofs The X-Files

After nearly 14 years, The X-Files made its return to television on Sunday. And to celebrate the return of Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) and Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson), 20th Century Fox released a new Deadpool image that spoofs the franchise.

The image features Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) alone in a creepy forest with one hand held up to see ear to hear what goes bump in the night. Though, you could tell me he's imitating Hulk Hogan's crowd-pleasing gesture and I wouldn't disagree with you either.

Oh, and instead of the show's "The truth is out there" motto, our favorite R-rated superhero went with: "The Merc is Out There."

Based upon Marvel Comics' most unconventional anti-hero, DEADPOOL tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.

Deadpool hits theaters on Feb. 12, 2016.
