First Comics News reported the return of Funtastic Harvey Hits, which veteran Archie Comics creator Dan Parent confirmed by sharing the story to Twitter and hinting that he was working on Richie Rich.

Joe Books is working with Universal Brand Development to revive Casper the Friendly Ghost, Richie Rich, Wendy the Good Little Witch, Baby Huey, and the rest of the Harvey gang in new stories.

Richie Rich, of course, recently got a TV reboot at Netflix. It lasted just one ten-episode season and got generally scathing reviews.

Here’s how First Comics described the series:

Why are kids inviting Casper to school every day? How can Richie Rich keep his piles of money safe from evil villains? How will Little Dot handle dog sitting a Dalmatian puppy? And what happens when Hot Stuff catches a cold . . . ?

This anthology-style comic features an all-star creative team that includes Cesare Asaro, Geoffrey Golden, Charlie La Greca, Eric Jones, Dan Parent, Kirstie Shepherd, Landry Walker, Franco Aureliani, and Art Baltazar.

“It’s been two years in the making,” Baltazar said. “the hardest part was keeping it secret! Wow! I always loved Harvey Comics! I read them when I was a kid. My family is going to be very happy! Aw yeah!”

Harvey Hits was a comic series that originally ran from 1957–1967. A publication of legendary Harvey Comics Entertainment, the title featured dozens of characters including Casper the Friendly Ghost, Spooky the Tuff Little Ghost, the Ghostly Trio, Hot Stuff the Little Devil, Wendy the Good Little Witch, Richie Rich, the Poor Little Rich Boy, Freckles, Gloria Glad, Little Audrey, Little Dot, Little Lotta, Baby Huey, and more.

Harvey characters have traveled around a bit since Harvey folded, with the most recent comics featuring many of the characters coming out of Ardden Entertainment, who had Tellos creator Todd Dezago and artist Pedro Delgado on Casper and the Spectrals in 2009.

Joe Books currently handles a number of Disney Comics licenses, including the newest take on Disney/Pixar’s Cars, the first issue of which debuted today.

The first issue of Harvey Hits will be in stores in May.
