Gary Oldman Approached For Star Wars

Gary Oldman has revealed that he has been approached about playing a role in Star Wars Episode VII. The iconic actor has had roles in many iconic movie franchises, including Batman, Harry Potter and Planet of the Apes. When asked by Sky Movies "What's next? Maybe Star Wars?" he responded simply, saying "They've called." Oldman said that he couldn't say more, though it did seem like the Star Wars discussion is an ongoing one, though the actor seems as skeptical about casting rumors as many fans. "I'm more cynical about it now," Oldman said. "I'll believe it when I'm on the plane home. The deal isn't done, but they've inquired." Oldman briefly reflected back on his career in these iconic films, saying thoughtfully "I mean, Planet of the Apes, Harry Potter, and Batman, and Star Wars…bloody hell." Oldman is currently promoting his latest role in an iconic sci-fi film, playing Dr. Dennett Norton in the remake of RoboCop. The film hits theaters February 12, 2014. Star Wars Episode VII is being helmed by J.J. Abrams and is rumored to focus on what happens to the heroes of the original Star Wars trilogy and their children after the events of Return of the Jedi.
