will receive two new digital expansons in 2014, according to a “Producer’s Road Map” laid out by the game’s Senior Producer, Bruce Maclean. In the post he outlines everything players can expect to see added to the game in the first half of the year: new starships, operations and flashpoints – the usual suspects. At the end of the post, he adds:
Expect to see two digital expansions in 2014 just like you did last year, with one similar to Galactic Starfighter in scope and one more closely resembling Rise of the Hutt Cartel.Star Wars: The Old Republic
was developed by BioWare, makers of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, and launched at the end of 2011 as a subscription based MMO set in the Star Wars universe several generations before Anakin Skywalker was born. The game was popular initially, but saw a mass exodus as players reached the level cap and quickly found themselves bored with what little endgame content the game had to offer. The game switched to a free-to-play model that helped draw players back in, and has been steadily adding more content, but there are still questions about how healthy the game is, financially.New content packs may be a solid strategy to try to lure players back in and even grab the attention of some new players. We’ll have to wait to see what the new expansions have to offer.
