Thor: The Dark World

star Tom Hiddleston, who is serving as a judge in the Jameson Empire Done In 60 Seconds short film competition, said in a Press Association interview that the upcoming sequel will show a more nuanced version of the Marvel heroes and villains than we've seen in Thor or Marvel's The Avengers. "It's fantastic, truly. We are making an amazing film, and we're having a wonderful time," he told reporters. "It's so exciting to have established characters and an established setting in the world, and we are working so hard to cook up something new." It's been teased that the film may have a bit of a redemptive quality to it for Loki, whose role following The Avengers isn't entirely clear. "I think where we take the character in Thor 2 will be really interesting," Hiddleston told ComicBook.com back in May. "I haven't seen the script but I vaguely know the story and I wonder whether there's a glimmer of–I know that he'll have to answer for his crimes. I think Odin will have something to say about what happened in The Avengers. But I think Loki is constantly playing with his own unpredictability and I think that's why he's a master deceiver. So it could be…I'm just trying not to say too much, actually, but I think you'll be surprised by Loki's placement in Thor 2." At the Press Association, he followed up, "That is what is exciting me - taking what we know, taking what we love and deepening it and giving it an extra dimension. I think director Alan Taylor is really shaping up the world of Asgard and the world of these characters."
