Tuesday Night Ratings: Muppets, SHIELD, Limitless Fall Because of Democrats

Thanks to the search for a Presidential replacement and the Democratic party candidate debate, ratings for regular series dropped across the board last night, with one notable exception. The Flash stayed nearly-even with a 1.3 rating (down .1) in the 18-49 demographic, but actually went up in ratings for the narrower 18-34 set. Those young adults with disposable income really like the multiverse, apparently.

That's where the good news ends for genre entertainment in same-day ratings Tuesday night, though. iZombie, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., and Scream Queens all dropped by exactly two tenths of a point. The Muppets had a larger drop of .3 down to a 1.3 rating - a strong rating for a network like The CW, but not stellar for one of the big three/big four. If you haven't watched it yet, I have five words for you: Swedish Chef Rapper's Delight Karaoke.

CBS, a ratings juggernaut in the one-hour drama department, saw NCIS and NCIS: New Orleans both drop two-tenths, and Limitless go down three-tenths, as well. Of course, the draw for those first two shows tends to be an older demographic, who also tend to be bigger debate watchers.

But at least The Flash is running away with audiences, meaning the crazier elements introduced last night should keep coming. Remember that these ratings don't mean as much to producers or production houses anymore as the timeshifted LIVE+3 and LIVE+7 ratings, which include DVR and On-Demand usage (Hulu/network .com traffic is tracked separately as well).
