Zootopia Wins Academy Award For Best Animated Feature

Congratulations, Zootopia! The family-friendly flick has finally won the ultimate accolade for movies. Tonight, the Walt Disney feature took home an Oscar for Best Animated Feature.

Zootopia beat out other contenders like Kubo and the Two Strings, Moana, My Life as a Zucchini, and The Red Turtle.

Last year, the film made waves thanks to its unbelievable profitability. By June, the film reached a milestone after it raked in more than $1 billion worldwide. Zootopia is the fourth animated film to rake in more than a billion dollars. Other animated features who've joined that exclusive club include Frozen, Minions and Toy Story 3.

From Walt Disney Animation Studios comes a comedy-adventure set in the modern mammal metropolis of Zootopia. Determined to prove herself, Officer Judy Hopps, the first bunny on Zootopia's police force, jumps at the chance to crack her first case – even if it means partnering with scam-artist fox Nick Wilde to solve the mystery. The cast features Ginnifer Goodwin as Judy Hopps, Jason Bateman as Nick Wilde, Idris Elba as Chief Bogo, Jenny Slate as Assistant Mayor Bellwether, Nate Torrence as Benjamin Clawhauser, Bonnie Hunt as Bonnie Hopps, Don Lake as Stu Hopps, Tommy Chong as Yax the Yak, J.K. Simmons as Mayor Leodore Lionheart, and Alan Tudyk as Weaselton.

The film was co-directed by Byron Howard and Rich Moore and written by Phil Johnston.
