The first look at Wednesday night’s episode of Criminal Minds has finally arrived. The next installment in the series is titled “Alpha Male,” and shows the team trying to wrap their minds around the fact that Reid (Matthew Gray Gubler) is now absent from the group

The sneak peek features the main cast – J.J. Jareau (A.J. Cook), Tara Lewis (Aisha Tyler), Luke Alvez (Adam Rodriguez), and Stephen Walker (Damon Gumpton) – discussing Reid’s options after he opted not to take a plea deal after he allegedly murdered a doctor in Mexico.

In the brief clip, the team has a bleak outlook on the situation when Penelope Garcia, portrayed by Kirsten Vangsness, presents an idea for how they can keep in touch with Reid to keep him as comfortable as possible while he is imprisoned.

“We’re going to send him letters every day. We’re going to put money in his commissary account. We are going to send him puzzles, magazines, books, whatever we can think of to make sure those gorgeous gears inside that boy wonder brain are lubed up and in perfect working order to keep us on track,” she said.

“I took the liberty of making a chart,” Garcia announced as she then hoists up a board that reads “Reid’s Contact Schedule” in pink flowery handwriting. The chart displays the team’s visitation schedule and how they’re to go about contacting the missing comrade.

After further examination of the board, Alvez asks Garcia, “Why do you get to visit Reid first?”

“Because I made the chart, and if anyone has a problem with that, then tough noogies!” Garcia said in response.

The eccentric Penelope then instructs everyone to pen “upbeat, articulate missives” in order to send to Reid at 3 p.m. sharp that afternoon. However, the plan hits an unexpected obstacle when David Rossi (Joe Mantegna) and Emily Prentiss (Paget Brewster) reveal that Reid has been taken from the Police precinct over to the prison.
