The Fate of the Furious is almost as famous now for its behind-the-scenes drama as it is for the high-octane action that made it onscreen. Whether real, fake (or just exaggerated for publicity), the feud between Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Vin Diesel has become a major fixation, with some interesting ramifications for the franchise.

Along with news of tensions between two of Fate‘s big action stars, was the side-story of how two other stars (Johnson and Jason Statham) are getting their own spinoff film. Friendly & Furious
The Wrap got the breakdown on deleted scene with Statham and Johnson, and it sounds like something that would’ve definitely been fun forย Fast and the Furiousย fans – and action movie fans, in general – to see:ย
The deleted scene is a nod to “Rocky 3’s” fight at the end between Rocky and Apollo. Hobbs and Shaw face off and right before they connect fists they stop, look at one another and one of them goes, “Why are we fighting? We should be working together instead of for that idiot. And “that idiot” is none other than Dominic Toretto, played by Diesel.”
You can probably see why Diesel decided to cut the scene from the film, due to the tensions between him and Johnson. Still, for audiences, it would’ve been a great moment and a great callbackย to another classic action movie (Rocky 3).ย
As it stands, Luke Hobbs (Johnson) and Deckardย Shaw (Statham), are going to be stepping out in their own film, soon enough. How they form that bond from the trash-talking rivalry ofย Fate of the Furiousย remains to be seen.ย
