The hosts of BBC Breakfast sat down with Harrington to discuss his upcoming stage role as Doctor Faustus, but couldn't pass on the opportunity to question the star about these reports. Harrington responded with a well-trained straight face.

It’s going to be a very excited season so I’m led to believe. For the last five years he's made his name playing the brooding hero Jon Snow in Game of Thrones. But in the final moments of the last season, Kit's character met an unexpected end - or so we thought! "All I can tell you is Jon Snow is dead," Harringon said. "He died at the end of the last season."
But does his spirit live on?
"Who knows? You'll have to wait and see. It's going to be a very excited season so I'm led to believe."
So Harrington seems to be confirming that Jon did indeed die at the end of Season 5, but could he return from death? Harrington's comments, taken in tandem with co-star Maisie William's tease, seem to suggest that Jon will make his way back to the land of the living, but not without a cost.
Game of Thrones returns to HBO on April 24.
