There were several subplots going on, lots of gore and action, and while there wasn’t a major character death, there was still quite a bit of blood.

So…what were our big takeaways? Read on…

Is Morgan sleeping…

…in the car our guys crashed a few episodes back during that walker swarm?

I could be wrong on that, but it seems like that’s where he is.

Traveling in pairs

Does this give credence to the theory that the Wolves are the same people Alexandria kicked out?

They’re using the same strategy: traveling in twos, one seen and one unseen, to scout while their larger numbers and exact location remain hidden.

Daryl certainly seems to suspect it as much as the viewers do.

Looks basically identical to how it was done in the comics when all bandaged up.

Glenn brings all of this on himself

Seriously — who would follow that moron out into certain danger when there’s more important stuff for you to be doing?

That scene with Pete was perfect. The casserole came back. And at the end of the day, she’s been the smartest and most capable person in the group since they came to Alexandria.

Is Daryl really that gullible?

A food warehouse, with only eight walkers around it? How could he not know that was going to be a trap?

Also worth noting: The Saviors in the comics (Negan’s group) are headquartered out of a big, old commercial property flanked by captive walkers.

Is the coming herd going to be man-made?

Was the one that took them off the road a while back?

How many of the herds and swarms in this area are “natural” and how many of them are being created, used and manipulated by the Wolves?

That kind of reminds me of Rick going under the tank in the premiere. I half-wanted Glenn to come out and mock them.

Seriously. He still hasn’t done anything particularly redemptive.

Nightmares end

Both this and the “I don’t need my sword here” are kind of justified in the comics.

It’s been more than fifty issues since the events depicted in this episode, and Rick Grimes and company are still at Alexandria. When the five-year time jump recently happened, Michonne literally left the sword behind.

Sasha

Good to see that the two storylines that seem to have almost no direction at all are converging to give Sasha and Gabriel some kind of closure for the season.

Music

Using music to draw in the walkers to the truck is of course nothing new. The addition of the disco lights is a nice touch, though.

No mercy for red poncho guy

So why did the Wolves hang that woman they assaulted up on the tree to reanimate? It looks like they’re using, and have good reason to use, their victims to maintain their walker army.

That’s pretty uncommon; since the start of the show, either fear of walkers or respect for the dead has had most characters kill people with headshots and/or destroy those who have turned.

Alas, poor Reg…

That’s more or less exactly how Douglas Monroe’s wife Regina died in the comics.

And of course the poor guy wrote his own eulogy by giving Maggie such sage advice. It was like Herschel all over again…and then he got killed by the same blade.

All life is precious

So if “all life is precious,” what is Morgan going to think about Rick capping some guy’s ass right as he walks up?
