Pink Rangers Unite In This Fantastic Power Rangers Fan Art

Three eras of the Mighty Morphin Pink Ranger have finally come together, though it isn’t in the way you might expect.

Artist Francisco Mauriz decided to bring the three actors together who have played the Mighty Morphin Pink Ranger in this delightful piece of fan art. The first is the original Pink Ranger Mei, played by Reiko Chiba in Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger on the left. The second is Amy Jo Johnson, who played the Kimberly in the original stateside version Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. The third is Naomi Scott’s Kimberly from the recent live-action reboot.

The three Rangers pose under a holographic image of their helmet and hold their power bows, though the live-action reboot didn’t feature any power weapons due to budget constraints. It still would have been cool to see though, and now you can.

Most Power Rangers fans are aware that much of the actual battle footage in the show is pulled from the original Super Sentai series in Japan. When they make it stateside they are recast and new footage is shot with the Rangers, though the actual battle scenes and Zord footage is kept from Super Sentai.

Mighty Morphin’s Amy Jo Johnson played the character through the majority of the show’s three seasons, eventually giving up the Pink Ranger role to Katherine. She would later return to the character for Power Rangers: Turbo and then cameos in the live-action reboot.

The most recent addition to the character is Naomi Scott, who took up the role in the live-action reboot. While the name is the same, the characters do have some differences.

“I have an opportunity here to maybe delve a little bit deeper,” Scott told W Magazine, recalling her reaction after reading the script. “I love her because I think she’s real. I think she’s really smart. And I think she’s got a maturity as well.” After pausing for a moment, she added, “If they wanted a flipping gymnast, they shouldn’t have cast me.”
