A few alternate takes on the villain’s look from the movie have already surfaced, but some new rejected designs made their way online thanks to artist Andrew Baker (via Power Rangers NOW). The artist designed a few more looks for Weta Workshop, which go from more traditional to the outright alien.

The first concept features a more traditional costume for Rita, which gives her classic Mighty Morphin look a sleeker design while remaining entrenched in fantasy. Her skin is a much brighter tone here, and her hair is pulled back.

Baker also developed a few more iterations of this Rita in more modern and alien-like costumes. The final green one is closer to the final version, but it’s the next three designs that go the extra mile.

The final three take the alien aspect to the extreme. The first image has an almost harlequin look to the head, while the second one features a fully alien face. The last one shows a more human face in the alien-like armor, showing her perhaps after she’s absorbed more energy.

You can view the alternate designs in the gallery, and more of Baker’s work can be found on his website.

As for the final film costume, that was helmed by designer Kelli Jones, who also created some alternate designs for the character before arriving at the final green version seen in the movie.

“I did Rita start to finish and as her character evolved. I did a bunch of illustrations that had her in a black outfit. but I didn’t want her to be too Underworld. So I did a bunch of variations for her then, making her dark green.”

Power Rangers currently holds a 73.20 on ComicBook.com’s composite rankings and a 3.66 out of 5 on the user rankings. You can submit your rating of the film here.
