New ‘Star Trek: Discovery’ Premiere Photos Released

CBS is preparing to boldly go with new photos from tonight’s premiere of Star Trek: Discovery.

Five new photos from the first episode of Star Trek: Discovery, “The Vulcan Hello,” can be seen in the attached gallery.

The photos include new shots of series lead Sonequa Martin-Green as First Officer Michael Burnham with Michelle Yeoh as Captain Phillippa Georgiou, both of the USS Shenzhou. There’s also James Frain as Sarek, the Vulcan father of Spock and surrogate father of Burnham, and shots of the show’s Klingons, including Chris Obi as leader T’Kuvma and Mary Chieffo as L’Rell.

The official Star Trek website also revealed a new description for the premiere episode, which reads:

While patrolling Federation space, the U.S.S. Shenzhou encounters an object of unknown origin, putting First Officer Michael Burnham to her greatest test yet.

Tonight’s Star Trek: Discovery premiere event is two hours with two episodes. The first episode, “The Vulcan Hello,” will air on CBS. “The Vulcan Hello” and the second episode, “Battle of the Binary Star,” will both be available to stream on CBS All Access, which will be the home of Star Trek: Discovery going forward.
