The Disney Parks Blog is hosting a special after-hours get together at Walt Disney World's Epcot park on December 5, 2016, and they're using the opportunity to bring the deadliest weapon in the galaxy here to Earth. During the meet-up, the famous Spaceship Earth globe - the giant, shiny golfball that is the centerpiece to the Epcot entrance - will be transformed through digital projectors into the Death Star from Star Wars, as seen in the upcoming Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

The celebration of all things Star Wars will kick off at Disney's Hollywood Studios, where the Star Tours ride and other Star Wars attractions currently live and the Star Wars Land park is currently under construction. It'll then move to Epcot for the Death Star display. All tickets have been given away already, but you can bet there'll be some cool video and pictures of the Death Star coming from Orlando, Florida this weekend.

Star Wars Land is currently being built at both US parks, Walt Disney World in Florida, and Disneyland in Anaheim, California. The new full-sized lands will include brand-new rides, plus other experiences like a real-life cantina, droids, aliens, and creatures wandering around, and a life-size Millennium Falcon. No time table has been given for either parks' opening, though they've both broken ground this year.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story hits US theaters December 16, 2016. Directed by Gareth Edwards, it's the first of the new standalone features from Lucasfilm and Disney, which take place outside the core "Skywalker Saga" of films noted by an Episode number. Rogue Onetells the story of the small band of rebels that were tasked with stealing the plans to the first Death Star. The story spins directly off the opening crawl from the original Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope. In that crawl, it read: "Rebel spaceships, striking from a hidden base, have won their first victory against the evil Galactic Empire. During the battle, Rebel spies managed to steal secret plans to the Empire's ultimate weapon, the DEATH STAR, an armored space station with enough power to destroy an entire planet."
