Disney CEO Bob Iger announced that the park addition would be open to the public in 2019, but there weren’t many details beyond that. Fortunately, Disney has given fans more than they can handle this week.
In an update on their blog, the company unveiled some details on the attractions coming to the park, along with an update on the construction.
“We’re also creating two incredible new signature attractions: one that lets guests take the controls of Millennium Falcon on a customized secret mission, and an epic Star Wars adventure that puts guests in the middle of a climactic battle between the First Order and the Resistance,” the blog read.
Yes, you read that correctly, fans will be able to pilot the MILLENNIUM FALCON! Of course, this is all in addition to the life-sized AT-AT Walkers that will be scattered throughout the park. The video released with the post showed the current state of the enormous machines. Go ahead and check it out above.
Star Wars: The Last Jedi, from writer/director Rian Johnson, is in post-production now for a December 15, 2017 release. The film follows-up and continues the story of the next generation of the saga as Rey, Poe, Finn, and Kylo Ren find their place in the galaxy and follow the legacy of Luke Skywalker, Leia, and Han Solo. Daisy Ridley returns to star as Rey, with other returning stars John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Adam Driver, Domhnall Gleeson, Gwendoline Christie, Peter Mayhew, Andy Serkis, Anthony Daniels, Lupita Nyong’o Mark Hamill, and Carrie Fisher as General Leia Organa. Benicio Del Toro and Laura Dern join the cast in as-yet-unrevealed roles.
