A Guide To Marvel's Star Wars Comics
Star Wars fans around the world are celebrating May the Fourth, Star Wars Day, a day to celebrate [...]
Star Wars
Star Wars is Marvel's longest running Star Wars comic book. The series is written by Jason Aaron (The Mighty Thor, Doctor Strange) and features a different top tier artist on each story arc.
Star Wars is set during the years between Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope and Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back.
Star Wars is an episodic callback to the adventure-pulp tone of A New Hope. It features Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, and Princess Leia all at the best and brightest, as well as interesting new characters like Sana Starros, Han Solo's "wife."
If you're looking for an episodic adventure story that feels like a Star Wars TV series with the original cast, Star Wars is your book.

Darth Vader
This is Marvel Comics' second Darth Vader ongoing series. The first ran parallel to Star War, following Vader on a path to redeeming himself after his failure to stop the Rebel Alliance from destroying the Death Star in A New Hope.
The new Darth Vader goes back further. The series is written by Charles Soule (Death of X, Uncanny Inhumans) and drawn by Giuseppe Cammuncoli (Superior Spider-Man), Darth Vader #1 will pick up shortly after the events of Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith and will chronicle the earliest days of Darth Vader.
The years between the Star Wars prequel trilogy and the original Star Wars trilogy have been mostly unexplored by the new Star Wars canon so far. IF you're interested in exploring that period, or you're drawn to the dark side of the Force, Darth Vader should be on your reading list. The first issue debuts in June 2017.

Doctor Aphra
Doctor Aphra is unique among Marvel's Star Wars line. It is the only series to be headlined by a character who was created in a Star Wars comic book rather than a Star Wars movie.
Doctor Aphra was created in Marvel's first Darth Vader series, written by Kieron Gillen. Gillen continues to write Aphra in her own book with artist Kev Walker drawing. The book also features Aphra's crew of dangerous allies: the maniacal droids BT-1 and Triple Zero and the deadly Wookie bounty hunter Black Krrsantan.
Doctor Aphra gets away from the space opera of the typical Star Wars stories and focuses more on the criminal element. A fun read for anyone looking for something different from their Star Wars comics.

Poe Dameron
Poe Dameron may not have had the most screen time in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, but he certainly left an impression on fans.
The ongoing Poe Dameron comic book series is written by Charles Soule and drawn by Phil Noto. The series chronicles Poe. BB-8, and Black Squadron's struggles against the First Order on the behalf of the Resistance prior to the events of Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
Poe Dameron serves many purposes for Star Wars fans. It provides more insight into the Star Wars universe in the era of The Force Awakens, and it tells stories about heroes who don't wield lightsabers or use the Force.
If you couldn't' get enough of Poe on screen, his comic should help hold you over until The Last Jedi arrives.

Captain Phasma
In the months leading up to the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, there were several Star Wars products released under the "Journey to Star Wars: The Force Awakens" banner that provided context and background material for The Force Awakens' story.
Lucasfilm is planning the same for Star Wars: The Last Jedi. The upcoming Captain Phasma comic book will be released under the Journey to Star Wars: The Last Jedi banner, and is the first comic book to take place after the events of Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
Captain Phasma will be written by Kelly Thompson and drawn by Marco Checcetto. The series will tell of how Captain Phasma escaped Starkiller Base after the climax of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and will hopefully redeem Phasma in the eyes of fans who were disappointed with how little she had to do in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
Captain Phasma kicks off in September 2017.
