The 3-LP set comes on 180-gram vinyl, and a 48-page hard cover book is included with rare and never-before-seen photos of the film’s production and scoring sessions. There are also two essays in the book – “Tuning Up a Galaxy” by Jeff Bond (“Danse Macabre: 25 years of Danny Elfman and Tim Burton,” “The Music of Star Trek”) which focuses on “the phenomenon of Star Wars and how John Williams’ score changed film music forever” and “John Williams’ Journey to Star Wars” by Jeff Eldridge, which discusses John Williams’ early career.
Tristan Duke, who is best known for his work on Jack White’s “Lazaretto”, hand etched the vinyl, which offers a 3D hologram Death Star on Disc 1. Disc 2 features an etched Star Wars 40th Anniversary logo. You can see the Death Star effect represented in the image above.
