While these track names aren’t outright spoilers, they contain some interesting clues about how the film will play out.
One interesting clue is that the track “The Rebellion is Reborn” appears before “Lesson One.” In The Force Awakens and what we’ve seen of The Last Jedi, the organization that aims to take down the First Order is always referred to as the “Resistance,” while the “Rebellion” refers to the organization that set their sights on destroying the Empire in the original trilogy. “Lesson One” almost certainly refers to Rey’s training on Ahch-To, so these two songs could hint that Luke is convinced to embrace his Rebel past early on in the film and accept the responsibility of training Rey.
Later in the film, “The Cave” is followed by “The Sacred Jedi Texts,” possibly mirroring the training that Luke underwent on Dagobah where he confronted a vision of Vader in a cave. Were Rey to enter a cave in the film, we have no idea what she potentially encounters, but could explain a variety of surprising sequences seen in trailers, which were merely projections of her fears.
Additionally, “The Sacred Jedi Texts” will potentially uncover mysteries that have long been present in the Star Wars saga.
Writer/director Rian Johnson has confirmed on multiple occasions that “The Last Jedi” refers to Luke, so having a track of the same name appear towards the end of the film most likely confirms that, following the battle of Crait, something forces Luke to spring into action. Whether he aids the First Order or the Resistance is anyone’s guess, but the track appearing towards the end of the film almost guarantees he wields a lightsaber at some point.
Fans will get to hear these tracks on the big screen when The Last Jedi hits theaters on December 15.
