Fear The Walking Dead Recap With Spoilers: The Unveiling

Jake Otto hustles through the desert, armed only with a backpack and a map. Alicia catches up to him and tells him about the Trimbol family. He insists this makes talking to Walker more urgent. She is going with him. Behind a hill, they discover a sizable community with RV’s and tents. Jake says they are just going to walk in.

At the gas station, which is the community’s entrance, soldiers from the Native American group take Jake and Alicia’s weapons. As they walk further into the community, they hear dogs attacking people as people watch. One man stops them and calls a man with a bloody sword to them. He is dressed in butcher gear. He tells Jake he is too late for peace but just in time for lunch before dropping a pig head on the ground.

Back at Broke Jaw Ranch, Madison is curious about where Alicia is. Nick insists they leave her alone with Jake. Jeremiah approaches and suggests Alicia left with Jake. Nick wants to look for them but Jeremiah insists they can’t spare people to look for them. Nick doesn’t want to sit around like Jeremiah, which prompts Jeremiah to suggest Nick joining Troy’s army.

Meanwhile, Jake is sitting and talking with Walker. He explains that Jeremiah will never abandon the ranch. Walker says, in this case, he will feed everyone to the crows. Jake tells him certain people are dead and Alicia accuses Walker of killing the Trimbol family. Jake tries to reason with Walker, using legal experiences, but Walker is quickly bored by it and slams the table to shut this type of conversation down. “The days of the white man’s courts are over,” Walker said. “Now you have our verdict. The first humans’ verdict. You must vacate our land.” Jake was hoping for a parlay and Walker is open to the conversation after they eat.

Ofelia brings food to the table, acting as though she doesn’t know Alicia.

Nick tries to train with Troy but Troy questions whether or not his mother gave him permission, belittling Nick’s efforts. Nick is carrying the guilt of Travis’ death and his sister missing, going on to say he needs an occupation. He also wants to protect the community from whoever killed the Trimbol’s. Troy hands over a gun.

At the gas station, Ofelia and Alicia discuss how Ofelia abandoned everyone. Alicia is aggressive. Ofelia tells her she almost died after leaving but Walker found her. She says these people are good people. When Alicia insists they killed the Trimbol family, Ofelia insists there was no mission two nights ago so it couldn’t have been Walker.

Jake emerges from a trailer and tells Alicia to go back and send the message of parlay. He was planning on staying behind but Alicia elects to stay here herself. 

At Broke Jaw Ranch, Nick cuts his hair off. Madison looks on. “Do I have to worry?” she asks. Nick is trying to fit the mold of a soldier. 

Later, Jake Otto arrives at Broke Jaw Ranch with Ofelia. Madison asks where Alicia is and Jake explains the hostage trade situation. Jake promises she is safe. Nick and Ofelia share a stare at one another before Nick heads inside. 

Back at Walker’s community, he explains it to Alicia. They’re building an air force and more. He explains that he shot down the helicopter. She sees it and stares at it, still covered in Travis’ blood. She reveals that he killed one of her family members. Walker understands that she hates him but she insists he doesn’t know how she feels and calls him, “a hypocrite playing the noble Native American.”

Jake and Jeremiah speak about what to do. “Let them come,” Jeremiah insists. Jeremiah doesn’t want to give them anything. Madison barges in to ask if he was aware of Alicia. He was and insists 18 is the age of adults. Jake goes back out to continue negotiations and Jeremiah insists the parlay is not an option.

Walker escorts Alicia into one of the homes. He shows her a fake skeleton which tourists would pay to see. He opens a box which is not for tourist eyes, uncovering his great grandfather’s skull. He was once buried in a cave but Walker had to dig him up in order to protect him from the Otto family. “I hope one day my great grandfather forgives me and I can put all of this back,” he said, handing the skull to Alicia. Alicia says the idea of an after life doesn’t make sense because it’s hard enough to get out of this life. Walker says, “It’s all part of a grand plan,” before talking about the apocalypse and how it means “a great unveiling.”

From a cabinet, Walker pulls out paintings which he calls “prophecies.” They promise the land will be shed of “impure” which Alicia realizes are the Otto’s and herself by Walker’s perspective. 

Troy talks with Madison and calls Ofelia stupid. Madison says she is choosing the winning side. “She thinks he’s gonna beat us,” Madison said. Troy suggests waiting on the parlay but Madison wants a small team to slip into Walker’s camp and get Alicia. She holds her lying for him about the Trimbol’s over him as leverage.

Alicia carries buckets to feed the pigs.

Ofelia is in Jeremiah’s supply basement. He enters and wants to have a chat with her. “I got nothing to say to you,” she tells him. Jeremiah tries to explain his side of the story. She asks what he wants and he says he doesn’t want to complicate matters with old business. She agrees this is fair. 

Troy grabs Alicia and silences her. The small group is trying to get her out of there. They didn’t want to kill the Native American man who approached but he tried to flee so they don’t hesitate. Nick is watching from the distance and sees someone coming. He rushes in, instructing Madison to meet them down there with the truck. Nick attacks the man out of nowhere but ends up on the bottom of the fight with a knife in his face. Troy saves Nick’s life by shooting the man in the head.

A gunfight ensues as the group tries to escape.

Madison pulls around and the soldiers pour into the truck before she drives off.

The truck races into Broke Jaw Ranch. Jake walks out and tells him, “Congratulations, you just declared war on Walker’s people.” Madison insists she was rescuing Alicia. Jake argues that it is not Madison’s place to make calls. Jeremiah says this was Jake’s place and “them that don’t listen have to be brought to heel someday.”

The next day, Jake is seen loading water into the truck. Troy takes one for himself. Troy insists Jake has a deathwish but Jake swears he plan to reason with him. “Brother, you leave I don’t think you’re coming back,” Troy tells him.

Ofelia advises Alicia not stay at Broke Jaw Ranch. “I did you wrong at the hotel. I put your life in danger. Come with me, that’s all I can offer,” Ofelia said. Alicia turns it down. “I’m sorry about Travis.”

At Walker’s community, Jake is pulled from the truck and beaten. Ofelia watches. Walker emerges and insists Jake broke the parlay. Jake tries to reason with him but Walker cuts his forehead before raising the knife to the back of his head. Ofelia calls him off. Walker promises to finish the job the next time he sees him and for Jake to deliver such a message to his father and more threats.

At Broke Jaw’s gate, a soldier sees Ofelia being dropped off by a motorcycle. She is badly beaten. She has been cast out for not providing information about Broke Jaw Ranch. Jeremiah orders she be taken out of his office and to the infirmary. When she leaves, Jake takes the blame for Ofelia’s situation. Jeremiah suggests putting Ofelia to work within the community. 

Madison escorts Ofelia to a new job. Ofelia explains that Alicia was never in trouble and Madison says, “because of me.”

Troy tells his soldiers that none of them will sleep for the next 48 hours. Nick questions what happens if Walker attacks while they are on the perimeter. In this case, someone will have to stay behind and fight them off until they die to allow the rest to get back to protect it. Nick volunteers and calls himself “suicide proof.”

Inside, Alicia questions if what Walker has done is worse than their own actions. They’re readying weapons for war during the conversation. Alicia begins questioning whether or not Walker actually killed the Trimbol family but Madison doesn’t acknowledge it.

The soldiers monitor the outskirts in the darkness of the night. One soldier appears to be under the weather. He starts vomiting, aggressively. Another soldier begins vomiting and screaming in pain, as well. The last one calls for a medic. Alicia and Madison hear the screams and rush outside. Ofelia stays behind. 

A radio calls for Jimmy but he doesn’t answer. He has reanimated as a walker. 

Nick rushes to the community to see people panicking. There are walkers roaming about and eating people. One soldier is quick to blow one away before being taken down by Jimmy. Nick, however, saves him. Madison and Alicia start fighting the dead with guns of their own. Ofelia emerges from the house and looks on. Nick calls for her but she goes off on her own. Nick calls for everyone to stop her as she rushes off but suddenly becomes sick. Madison chases down Ofelia.
